The Importance of Establishing Healthy Eating Habits in Kids
Are you teaching your kids good eating habits? Or do you cave in to their begging for junk food? Establishing healthy eating habits is imperative to your children’s future. The best way to establish good eating habits in kids is to set the example before them. Make wise choices for yourself. Your children will learn from the habits that you create.
Let me share some pointers with you on why it is so important to establish healthy eating habits in your kids:
Live a Long Life – As parents, we want the best for our children. Creating good eating habits helps your kids lead longer lives. Children who are obese naturally are more sedentary, which leads to even worse eating habits. All these things contribute to shorter life spans. Sure, your child may mature into an adult-but how likely is it he will have a long life, if he is obese?
Not only can healthy eating habits contribute to a longer life span, but it will definitely have a say in your kids happiness. Children (and adults) who fight obesity rarely enjoy “fun” things like skydiving, surfing, or bicycling races. Help your children stay slim and fit and live life to the fullest.
More Energy – When kids are pumped full of sugary treats, they experience a “sugar high” that lasts for a very short amount of time. The sugar high wears off pretty quickly, leaving your kids feeling sluggish and devoid of energy.
Substituting fruit for candy will enable your children to have more lasting energy. This means they will stay active.
Prevent Disease – We all want our children to grow up strong, healthy individuals. No parent wants to see their child struggle with poor health. Setting healthy eating habits today will help your kids live normal, healthy lives in the future.
Some diseases caused by poor health are diabetes, heart conditions, and obesity. The best chance your kid has at combating these (and more) diseases is to create healthy eating habits today.
