Walking – The Perfect Family Exercise

It is often difficult to get the entire family involved in an exercise regimen together. If you want to promote a healthier lifestyle by implementing a family exercise routine, walking is the perfect solution.

Reason #1 – Walking is easy

Walking is something everyone can do, regardless of age. Even babies who are too young to walk, enjoy riding in the stroller.

Reason #2 – Walking can be done anywhere

If you live in an apartment complex, walk around the block. If you live in the country, walk with your family and enjoy the scenery. If you live in the city and are afraid to walk outdoors, use a treadmill at your local gym. (Many gyms now offer family plans.)

If you or your family hate even the thought of exercising, walking is perfect because it’s tricky. Walking provides exercise without you even realizing it. Park your car farther from the supermarket door, and your family gets exercise without thinking about it.

Walking stimulates your body to release endorphins, which is a natural pain reliever. As your family walks, take turns talking about your day. At the end of your family walk, every member will be relaxed and feel less stressed about things that may have been bothering them before.
